Evance R9000-5kW Turbine

Design

An Evance R9000 small wind turbine on a site with annual wind speeds averaging 6m/s will generate over 13,600kWh of energy and save over 5.5 tonnes of CO 2 emissions. The UK designed and manufactured R9000 accounted for a third of all small wind turbines sold in the UK in 2011 – making it the UK’s small wind turbine of choice.

The R9000 has been engineered to provide the maximum energy yield possible – it starts producing at low wind speeds (3m/s) and continues producing even in high winds.The patented blade pitch system holds the blades in the optimum position for capturing maximum energy from the wind. At high wind speeds the blades are automatically pitched to regulate energy capture and blade speed,therefore the turbine continues to capture energy, up to the full 5kW power rating. With highly efficient generation, often dual R9000s are installed as they can outperform a single, higher-rated turbine. This 5kW turbine is a 3 bladed upwind model (meaning that the blades face into the wind). This turbine has minimal impact on the surroundings as demonstrated by installations in areas of outstanding natural beauty and national parks. Visually pleasing, unobtrusive and very low noise levels prove to be key benefits with planners. 

The MCS certified turbine is available for on-grid (single and three phase) and for off-grid applications.

Tower and Foundations

Freestanding monopole towers are available in 10m, 12m, 15m and 18m (33, 40, 50 and 60ft) heights, all designed to be easily transported and assembled. All Evance towers tilt down, enabling fast and easy turbine installation and maintenance. The RAM tilt tower uses hydraulic rams, which are fitted to the tower and the tower foundation, to raise and lower the tower quickly so reducing installation and servicing time, and keeping costs to a minimum.

The tower foundations are designed for minimal environmental impact from just 1m2 surface area and minimal concrete and steel. A root foundation provides the most effective solution, requiring one hole, very little concrete and rebar, so it can be dug and filled in half a day. The concrete in these foundations cures quickly, usually within 1 week.

A pad foundation provides a solution when a root foundation cannot be used due to underground obstacles, and a rock foundation is available where a site has suitable rock resource.

Durability

Both the turbine and the tower are designed to provide outstanding durability. With fewer moving parts than many others, in particular no gearbox, the R9000’s maintenance is minimal and the system comes with a 5 year warranty.
